The Future of RAD: a forum for the archival community of Newfoundland and Labrador
The Canadian Committee on Archival Description (CCAD) of the Canadian Council of Archives has been contracted by Library and Archives Canada to develop a plan to update and revise the Rules for Archival Description (RAD). A national meeting of experts will be held during the winter of 2016 to discuss the path this revision should take. Before this meeting is held, provincial and territorial councils have been invited to host their own regional meetings to discuss their ideas about the future of RAD.
A backgrounder with key questions will be provided by CCAD to direct the discussions and provide feedback that will be shared during the national meeting. Background readings and other information will be available in advance to help participants prepare and contribute to the regional discussion.
ANLA will be facilitating a regional meeting about the future of RAD on November 20, 2015. The meeting will be hosted by The Rooms Provincial Archives Division and will take place in The Rooms Theatre. Participants can join us in person or via a distance communication technology (type to be determined).
Please RSVP to this invitation by November 10, letting us know whether you will be joining us in person or via distance technology.
