ANLA currently has a range of individual and institutional members (75% staffed by volunteer and part-time staff). Archival holdings include records of parent organizations, business documents, diaries, correspondence, photographs, oral histories, audio recordings and films.

Our institutional members represent a wide diversity of mandates and acquisitions policies. Our members include universities, heritage centres and historical societies, religious communities and congregations, military and legal bodies, medical and benevolent organizations, francophone and aboriginal communities, professional and volunteer associations. The membership year runs from April 1st to March 31st of the following year.

Benefits of Membership

ANLA presents training in archival skills and practices through workshops, seminars, and lectures. We offer professional advice through consultations by mail, telephone or e-mail, and by on-site visits. Member institutions are entitled to have their finding aids as part of our provincial ARC-ANLA database, which makes it easy for researchers to find what they’re looking for and prepare for their visits to your archives. As a member, you will also be added to our members-only e-mail list with pertinent information about workshops, job listings and relevant archival news. As an additional bonus, membership also entitles individuals or institutional representatives admission to The Rooms free of charge (excluding parking and discounts for events, programs, the gift shop, and the cafe).

Membership is also a requirement for applying to some provincial government heritage funds.

1. Student/Underemployed Member – $25/year
2. Individual Member – $35/year
3. Associate Institutional Member – $60/year. Institutions that are interested in archives or house archival material which are primarily community-based and/or not-for-profit and/or volunteer-oriented organizations.
4. Institutional Member – $75/year. This membership category is open to institutions in the province with three or more full-time staff members expressly employed in archival work.
